Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026
yt-dlp online is built privacy-first. The desktop app does not run telemetry or analytics, and the website does not store media files. This policy explains exactly what does and does not happen with your data.
The desktop app
The desktop application runs entirely on your computer. It does not create an account, does not transmit your download history anywhere, and does not phone home. The only outbound connections it makes are (1) to the sites you ask it to download from, and (2) to fetch updates for the yt-dlp engine and FFmpeg.
The web downloader
The in-browser downloader sends the URL you paste to our same-site API, which creates a secure job with the shared downloader service and returns signed download links when available. We do not attach those requests to an account identity, build a user profile, or store media files on this site.
Standard server logs and provider audit records, such as IP address, timestamp, request origin, and job status, may be generated for security, abuse prevention, rate limiting, and operational debugging. We do not sell or share that data.
Advertising and cookies
The website may display advertising on downloader pages. Advertising providers may process request data or use cookies according to their own policies. Any first-party cookies we set are limited to essential functionality.
Children's privacy
This service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new revision date.
